Write, Now More than Ever
Now is the time to write more than ever.
The world is changing rapidly, sometimes mimicking horrors from the past. You may experience chaos and confusion while justice, for whatever reason, seems far away. Will the future bring horrors of its own? In this sea of disorder, it’s hard to see the forest for the trees.
In times like these, writing helps us make sense out of nonsense. You probably already know that and journal yourself through triggers, memories, and current day challenges. Today, though, the turmoil goes beyond our own little worlds to impact our larger communities — our churches and synagogues, our government, our nation, and our world.
When you write, you reclaim the power that you’ve lost. You can write in a journal, for a blog, in a letter to the editor, or to your therapist. You can write to cry in anguish, to rage against injustice, or to calm yourself in a sea of soothing. You can write to make a logical, coherent case about an issue that’s important to you. You can write for no apparent reason but, over time, the reason will become apparent.
Your written word is potent and powerful, even if you feel impotent and weak. When you cut through lies to write your truth, it impacts an energy field much larger than you. A Chinese proverb (that informs mathematical chaos theory) says that the flap of a butterfly’s wings can cause a tornado on the other side of the world. That’s how powerful your words are. Your writing matters. Your words matter. You matter.
So don’t stop writing now. Your voice, manifest in your writing, joins the voices of others to create a kaleidoscope of butterflies that changes all of our lives.
You need your words, we need your words, the world needs your words, now more than ever. So reclaim your power and write.
