Ode to Pachelbel

Foreword: I’m delighted to welcome Stephanie as guest blogger. Stephanie is an active subscriber to Dissociative Writers, a DW Board Member, and our DW Administrative Provider. In her “other” life, she is a photographer and marketing specialist. This post is one of occasional posts by subscribers to DW who share their writing.~ Lyn

I am drifting

Slowly, softly

By the ocean

Birds fly lazily by

If you ask me

I will tell you

How it all works

But you must listen

This is a gift

Crescendoing slowly

From inside

To the surface

Save me

Hear me

Find me

Keep me

I am here now

Let me find you

Please stay with me

Show me how to sing the lead

Musical Note: This canon in D by German Baroque composer, Johann Pachelbel, was written in the late 17th to early 18th century in three parts. Stephanie wrote this poem while listening to Pachelbel’s Canon.

Thank You!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

This is the last week to give to DW Writes On! fundraising campaign. Our community has been amazing and risen to the challenge. If you find yourself more flush at the end of this year than you had expected, consider giving one more time to DW Writes On!

Lyn, myself, and the rest of the DW Board are feeling so energized that we have exceeded our fundraising goal of $4000 for DW Writes On!

We are extremely fortunate to have had several generous DW supporters offer to match any contributions that are sent to us in December, and even though we’ve reached our goal, we are still going! Our fundraising account will be open through the end of the year for additional gifts to help further DW, and every gift, no matter the size or amount, counts, and helps make progress.

I am so passionate about the community that Lyn has created, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to support this space. Will you consider making a gift this holiday season?

~ Stephanie

Holidays

During this holiday season, some of us celebrate Christmas, some Hanukkah, some Kwanzaa, and some no holiday at all. On a similar note, some of us have loved ones to celebrate with us and some of us have no one. Our lives may be filled with toxicity, yearning, anxiety, or love. Or maybe all of the above. Dissociative Writers reminds you that you have family here. We are family to one another. You are loved. Celebrate this holiday seasons knowing you are part of a loving community. Happy Holidays!

Focused Writing Group

Dissociative Writers is pleased to offer a new writing opportunity for all subscribers this coming January. Rowan, a DW subscriber in Australia, is also a published author. Beginning in early January, she will lead a weekly writing group based on the Pomodoro method from 7:00-8:30 pm Eastern, day to be determined. There will be no Littles Times, or Trials and Triumphs, or prompts, or even sharing our writing. Instead, the 90-minute sessions will focus on writing for a period of time, then checking in with each other, then writing some more, and checking in some more, until each session is over. It’s especially helpful as a writing accountability tool for those of us who have trouble finding time to write and/or those of us who are working on writing projects.
